Sama Sama
The SamaSama Standard

We sift through the thousands, so you do not have to gamble on which one is actually good.

Finding a product online is easy. Finding one that is safe, reliable, pleasant to use and genuinely worth its price takes more work. The SamaSama Standard explains what we check before a product earns our recommendation.

The market problem

Cheap is easy to find. Good takes more work.

Product listings can look almost identical while hiding major differences in build quality, performance, materials and support. A high rating, impressive specification or supplier promise does not always tell the full story.

What listings often show

  • Nice photos from the best angle
  • Big numbers without much context
  • Supplier claims repeated as facts
  • Reviews that may not match your use case

What we want to know

  • Who made it and whether they can support it
  • Whether the claims apply to the actual model
  • How the sample behaves in a real home
  • What happens if something goes wrong
Six checks before recommendation

The six pillars

The Standard is our practical sourcing checklist. It keeps us honest about what we know, what we checked and what still needs to be explained on the product page.

01

Supplier Integrity

Who is behind the product, and are we comfortable dealing with them?

Before trusting the product, we want to understand who is making it, whether their capabilities match their claims and whether we are comfortable holding them accountable.

What SamaSama looks at

  • Who the supplier is and their role in the supply chain
  • Whether they are the manufacturer, brand owner or intermediary
  • Relevant operating background and export experience
  • Material commercial, legal or reputational concerns where information is available
  • Transparency, communication and responsiveness

Examples of proof we may show

  • Supplier background notes
  • Factory or business profile reviewed
  • Communication and escalation route recorded

This does not mean we can guarantee a supplier has no issues. It means we do not proceed when material concerns remain unresolved.

02

Product & Claims Verification

Does the product actually match what the supplier says it is?

We do not rely on catalogue descriptions alone. Trust me, very good quality is not a technical specification.

What SamaSama looks at

  • Product specifications and quoted model details
  • Material, component, capacity, output and performance claims where relevant
  • Food-contact, coating and material documents where relevant
  • Whether documents apply to the actual model being quoted
  • Claims that should be avoided until verified

Examples of proof we may show

  • Specification sheet reviewed
  • Model number matched to supplier documents
  • Material or coating evidence checked where relevant
03

Real-World Sample Evaluation

Does the product actually work well in real life?

Can switch on does not mean good. We use the product properly and test it in realistic scenarios.

What SamaSama looks at

  • Core function in realistic use cases
  • Usability, controls and setup
  • Noise, heat, airflow, smell, vibration, cleaning and maintenance where relevant
  • Weaknesses, compromises and irritating ownership issues
  • Whether we would be comfortable using or recommending it ourselves

Examples of proof we may show

  • Sample-use notes
  • Testing photos or short clips
  • Founder evaluation notes

Sample evaluation does not guarantee long-term durability or that a product can never develop a fault.

04

Regulatory & Safety Compliance

Has the product addressed the safety and regulatory requirements applicable in Singapore?

For products that require a Singapore SAFETY Mark, no valid mark means no launch.

What SamaSama looks at

  • Applicable Singapore safety and regulatory requirements
  • Electrical suitability including voltage, frequency and plug configuration
  • Food-contact, material or coating documentation where relevant
  • Required instructions, warnings or technical information
  • Valid Singapore SAFETY Mark before launching any Controlled Good

Examples of proof we may show

  • Singapore SAFETY Mark details where applicable
  • Voltage and plug suitability confirmed
  • Safety or material documents reviewed

The SamaSama Standard is not a government certification, independent laboratory accreditation or replacement for official regulatory marks.

05

Production Quality Assurance

Can the factory reproduce the approved quality across the actual production batch?

We look at how the approved quality can be reproduced, so the product customers receive is consistent with the one we approved.

What SamaSama looks at

  • Factory quality-control processes where practical
  • Production and testing stations during factory visits where practical
  • Incoming-material, in-process and final checks
  • Production output compared with the approved sample
  • Packaging, pre-shipment checks, sampling and inspection proportional to product risk
  • Defects, replacements and complaints after fulfilment

Examples of proof we may show

  • Factory QC process reviewed
  • Production line visited
  • Finished units sampled
  • Packaging checked
  • Independent inspection completed

This does not mean SamaSama inspects every unit unless that is specifically stated for the product.

06

After-Sales Accountability

Can SamaSama responsibly stand behind the product after the sale?

We plan for what happens when something goes wrong, instead of figuring it out only after a customer needs help.

What SamaSama looks at

  • How dead-on-arrival cases will be handled
  • Warranty responsibility and exclusions
  • Replacement procedures
  • Spare-unit, parts or consumable support where relevant
  • Troubleshooting and escalation routes
  • Clear support terms before the batch opens

Examples of proof we may show

  • DOA window stated
  • Replacement route prepared
  • Supplier escalation contact recorded
  • Support terms shown on product page
The SamaSama Verdict

Good enough to exist is not always good enough to recommend.

Once a product has cleared the Standard, we still ask whether it offers meaningful value for the homeowner at the price, waiting time and support level available.

Transparency

We will tell you what we did not like too.

Every product has compromises. Our product pages should explain not only the strengths, but also the weaknesses, who the product is right for and who may be better served elsewhere.

What the Standard means

The SamaSama Standard is our own sourcing and product-evaluation framework. It is not a government certification, independent laboratory accreditation or guarantee that a product will never develop a fault. Official regulatory approvals and test documents are shown separately where applicable.

Carefully sourced

Carefully sourced. Honestly evaluated. Confidently recommended.
